SUMMARY:Jazz At the Depot: Sat's 3-6pm
DESCRIPTION:The familiar strains of Duke Ellington’s Take the A Train\, means it’s time for Jazz at the Depot starting at 3:00pm\, EVERY SATURDAY in the Lake Superior Railroad Museum this winter. Shows are each Saturday through the end of April. \nThe Railroad Museum welcomes the Trackside Depot Jazz Band\, with three hours of big band hits\, classic jazz favorites and modern fusion. The group’s versatility is sprinkled with interesting artist profiles and there’s always a Train Story from Executive Director Ken Buehler. Because\, if you work it hard enough\, it all comes back to the railroad. \nJazz at the Depot features a full bar and fresh popcorn\, snacks\, gourmet hotdogs with all the fixings and a delicious weekly desert special. Jazz at the Depot is sponsored by Kenzen Auto Mall home of Honda\, Nissan and Lincoln and Midwest Communications KDAL-AM\, WDSM-AM and My 95. \nAdmission is only $7 and includes the Lake Superior Railroad Museum to explore during intermissions. Museum members get in free\, and many regulars of Jazz choose to purchase a membership which quickly pays for itself if you plan to visit for several Saturday shows. Memberships start at only $50 and offer many other benefits\, including free\, anytime admission\, invitation to special events\, the JUNCTION Magazine and free train rides on the North Shore Scenic Railroad. \n \nJazz at the Depot came about several years ago after the Club Saratoga in Canal Park cancelled its long tradition of offering Saturday afternoon jazz ensembles. The result has become a popular part of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum’s winter collection of events including; Hot Stove Nights\, Lake Superior Transportation Club meetings all at a destination attraction voted by USA Today as the “BEST Transportation Museum in America.” \nSATURDAYS ALL WINTER (Starting January 3)\n3:00pm – 6:00pm (TRAIN Story at 4:00pm) \nLake Superior Railroad Museum\n506 West Michigan Street\, Duluth MN\nEnter through the North Shore Scenic RR Lobby (back of the Depot) \nNo need to pre-purchase tickets\, just come on in! SUMMARY:Murder Mystery Express
DESCRIPTION:Traveling by train can be fun\, romantic\, and sometimes dangerous. Take the case of the North Shore Scenic Railroadʹs Elegant Dinner Train. A group of people\, most of whom are strangers to one another\, sit down to a gourmet meal in the beautiful Lake of the Isles dining car. As the train pulls out of the Depot in Duluth and heads onto the Lakefront Line\, the guests in the dining car meet one another and find that there is something just a little off balance. An air of mystery surrounds the alter‐egos of some of the passengers… \nAlmost as if planned to the exact minute\, the train crosses Railroad Street and the diesel engine’s horn blares out its warning…a shot rings out! One of the passengers has met a cruel and quite fatal end. For the remainder of the evening\, your job is to solve the crime and deliver the guilty party to authorities by the time the train returns to the station. Of course\, because this is a sophisticated and elegant evening\, dinner and cocktails will continue as if there is nothing wrong.  Fortunately\, there is a world famous detective on board to assist in finding the guilty party. \nIt’s an evening of mirth\, merriment\, and mayhem on The Disoriented Express! \nThree weeks only August\, Wednesday through Saturdays:August 13-16\, 20-23\, 27-30 | 5:30pm to 8:00pm \nDuration: 2.5 Hours\nDistance: 34 Miles \n \nAdults (16+): $130.00\, Reservations Required\n \nMENU SELECTIONS 2026: \n\nMidCoast Braised Beef Short Rib\nPork Loin\n\nKofta w. SUMMARY:The Great Pumpkin Train
DESCRIPTION:All aboard for a fall adventure like no other—the Great Pumpkin Train! Once a year\, a magical pumpkin field appears along the tracks\, and the only way to reach it is by train. Everyone gets a pumpkin! Admission to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum is included\, so when you’re done pumpkin-picking\, you can explore trains\, history\, and plenty of indoor fun at the Depot like Baloon Twisting\, ventriloquist\, magic\, and more. It’s a Duluth tradition that’s equal parts festive\, cozy\, and a little bit quirky—just like autumn itself. \nWhen your train pulls into the pumpkin patch\, every ticketed passenger gets to claim their very own pumpkin to haul home. The ride lasts about 90 minutes round trip\, giving you just enough time to soak in the fall colors\, snap too many photos\, and debate which pumpkin has the best “front porch face.” Back at the Depot\, you’re welcome to stick around until 5pm to explore all the museum exhibits. Pro tip: bring a grocery bag (or three) to carry your pumpkins—because trying to juggle a pumpkin like a football through the Depot isn’t nearly as graceful as it sounds. 🎃 \nTicket Prices: \n\n$38 for all passengers\, ages 3 and up. (only ticketed passengers get a pumpkin)\n$58 for Domecar seats for all ages (infants too). More details below.\n$5 additional per ticket added on Saturday (peak day)\nThe Lake Superior Railroad Museum\, included with your ticket for this event\, is only open until 5pm. If you are on a later train\, be sure to come early to enjoy the museum activities.\n\nOctober 15-18th. Three trains to choose from each day: 10:30am\, 1pm\, 3:30pm. Tickets on sale now.  \n \nDomecar Seats are available for a few dollars more\, where you sit in our unique upper level viewing cars\, with lounges below to store pumpkins. Concession are available for sale with these tickets. Due to limited space\, all passengers (infants too) have to pay for a DomeCar seat. \nFine Print Details: Ages 2 and under are free\, but only ticketed passengers can get a pumpkin (parents share with the little ones in the case of 2 and under).  The Pumpkin Patch Ride is not wheelchair accessible for deboarding at the patch. However\, wheelchairs can be loaded at the station into non-heated coaches for the ride. There are no accessible restrooms onboard the train. There are no group-rate discounts available for this excursion. \n \nOther Good Stuff to Know: \n\nTrains operate rain or shine and in snow.\nRestrooms are available on the train\, and coaches are heated/cooled as needed (except in open air car areas).\nTrains operate rain or shine and in snow. Restrooms are available on the train\, and coaches are heated/cooled as needed (except in open air car areas).\nPassengers in coach are boarded in the order they have arrived for checkin.
