SUMMARY:Caboose Crewz Package
DESCRIPTION:Experience life working on a real caboose. This is unique opportunity to ride in a retired railroad caboose. Sit up in the cupola and enjoy the ride! \n Package includes:\n\nA round trip\, 75-minute scenic excursion attached to the Duluth Zephyr train or ride a full 2.5 hour excursion behind the Northwoods Explorer daytime trip.\nUp to 10 people flat rate. Same price for 1 person\, or 10 people.\nCooler of soda/water/juice complimentary for the ride\nNarrated tour on the caboose (PA system when available)\, plus a car attendant if you have more specific questions.\nAdmission to the Lake Superior Railroad Museum for your entire group.\n\nTwo Options:\n75-Minute\, Duluth Zephyr Tour (7 miles one way\, then back): $300 flat rate for up to 10 people. \n\n2.5 Hour\, Northwoods Explorer Tour (16 miles one way\, then back): $350 flat rate for up to 10 people. \n\n______________________________________________________________________________________ \nScheduled most Saturdays in June-August\, or by request (starting in August)\, atleast two weeks in advance. \nThere is no heat or air conditioning in the caboose\, however windows do open for a great lake breeze. Larger parties are encouraged to ride as a group on the Duluth Zephyr Excursion train operating at the same time. It is a historic\, workers caboose\, far from the lap of luxury. But a unique opportunity to experience what caboose duty was like. \nA cooler of non-alcoholic beverages is available for caboose passengers\, and light snacks (chips/candy) \nUnfortunately\, due to the historic nature of the caboose\, this is not a wheelchair accessible ride. SUMMARY:Murder Mystery Express
DESCRIPTION:Traveling by train can be fun\, romantic\, and sometimes dangerous. Take the case of the North Shore Scenic Railroadʹs Elegant Dinner Train. A group of people\, most of whom are strangers to one another\, sit down to a gourmet meal in the beautiful Lake of the Isles dining car. As the train pulls out of the Depot in Duluth and heads onto the Lakefront Line\, the guests in the dining car meet one another and find that there is something just a little off balance. An air of mystery surrounds the alter‐egos of some of the passengers… \n \nAlmost as if planned to the exact minute\, the train crosses Railroad Street and the diesel engine’s horn blares out its warning…a shot rings out! One of the passengers has met a cruel and quite fatal end. For the remainder of the evening\, your job is to solve the crime and deliver the guilty party to authorities by the time the train returns to the station. Of course\, because this is a sophisticated and elegant evening\, dinner and cocktails will continue as if there is nothing wrong.  Fortunately\, there is a world famous detective on board to assist in finding the guilty party. \nIt’s an evening of mirth\, merriment\, and mayhem on The Disoriented Express! \nThree weeks only August\, Wednesday through Saturdays:August 13-16\, 20-23\, 27-30 | 5:30pm to 8:00pm \nDuration: 2.5 Hours\nDistance: 34 Miles \n \nAdults (16+): $130.00\, Reservations Required\n \nMENU SELECTIONS 2026: \n\nMidCoast Braised Beef Short Rib\nPork Loin\n\nKofta w. Butter Sauce (Vegan & GF)\nAll foods locally sourced when possible\, and proudly crafted by Executive Chef Jonathan Reznick & Mid-Coast Catering.\n\nAll meals served with appetizers\, MidCoast house salad of mixed greens\, goat cheese\, cranberries\, candied pecans\, balsamic vinaigrette\, complimentary coffee\, and dessert of French style Chocolate Pot de crème\, all included. Meals are accompanied  with Chive and Cream Cheese Smashed Baby Red Potatoes and Dill Roasted Carrots. Foods locally sourced when seasonal\, by Executive Chef Jonathan Reznick & Mid-Coast Catering. \nTables are seats of 4\, so this is a perfect double date!\n \nWhat to wear: We do not have a formal dress code\, but we are a historic recreation of fine dining on the rails.
