Directions to 506 West Michigan Street, Duluth, MN 55802

The St. Louis co. Heritage and Arts Center, is also known as the Depot.
It is also the location of the Lake Superior Railroad Museum.

Coming Northbound on I-35: • Take exit 256B – for Lake and 5th Avenue.

  • Turn left on to 5th Avenue West, cross over the freeway. You’ll see the Depot ahead.
  • Turn right on Michigan street, and another right on west 4th Avenue.
  • You’ll see a large sign pointing you to turn right at the bottom of the hill.
  • Turn left into the “Train Passenger Parking” lot – or:
  • If train passenger lot is full, park in the paid ramp on the other side of the street.
  • Follow the signs accordingly.
  • You’ll see the North Shore Scenic Railroad entrance ahead (picnic tables, signs for Ticketing, etc.)

Coming Southbound on I-35: • Take exit 256B for Lake and 5th Avenue.

  • Keep right and follow for 5th avenue. This is a frontage road, take a right on to 5th avenue (light).
  • Take next right onto Michigan Street
  • Take next right onto 4th avenue west, follow signs accordingly.
  • You’ll see a large sign pointing you to turn right at the bottom of the hill.
  • Turn left into the “Train Passenger Parking” lot – or:
  • If train passenger lot is full, park in the paid ramp on the other side of the street.
  • Follow the signs accordingly.

Parking:

  • There are two main ramps to the Duluth Depot building. The Depot Ramp is mostly for the Depot complex/museums and enters through the 3rd floor/Michigan Street entrance. The 5th Ave Ramp gets you closer to the North Shore Scenic Railroad.
  • Enter the North Shore Scenic Railroad around the back of the Duluth Depot complex. There is a yellow line from the West Ramp that you can follow around back.
  • Both ramps are owned and operated by the City of Duluth. Please follow payment signs accordingly.

Coming Northbound

(From Twin Cities):

1) Follow signs into Duluth on I-35 to Exit 256B

2) Take Exit 256B

3) Turn left onto 5th Avenue West

4) Follow straight. Notice the Depot ahead on the left

5) Turn right onto Michigan Street

6) Drive straight past the parking ramp

7) Turn right onto 4th Avenue West. Notice the “Train Parking” directional arrow.

8) Turn right at the bottom of the hill. Turn right to the paid Parking Ramp. Pay at the meter near the building. It is a city lot, follow signs accordingly. Payment is not required on most Sundays.

Coming Southbound

(From North Shore):

1) From the north on I-35, take Exit 256B

2) Follow signs for 5th Avenue West

3) This is a frontage road, continue to the second turn.

4) Take the second right onto 4th Avenue West. This comes up fast, it is just past the skywalk.

5) After turning onto 4th, make an immediate left onto another frontage road.

6) Follow this frontage road ahead to the Train Parking

7) Follow straight past the stop sign. Turn right to the paid Parking Ramp. Pay at the meter near the building. It is a city lot, follow signs accordingly. Payment is not required on most Sundays.
